Android 2.2 (Froyo) is coming soon; some leaked versions have already been spotted. It is supposed to bring a host of new features with it. It is one of the major releases after 1.6 and 2.1. Here is the Unofficial Android 2.2 Changelog.

Android 2.2 New Features:

JIT Compiler

The JIT (Just in Time) compiler can dynamically compile the byte code to native code. This will lead to much faster processing and better application performance. Graphics processing time is also expected to decrease significantly.

Automatic Application Updates

This is one of the major improvements in Android Market. Developers can now enable automatic application updates, users will no longer have to check for updates and download them manually.

New OS Kernel

The kernel update from 2.6.29 to 2.6.32 will directly translate to better performance, security and optimize resource usage on your Android phone.

OpenGL ES 2.0

The graphics performance on Android 2.2 will be considerably improved thanks to the OpenGL ES 2.0 update. This could bring the gaming experience on Android devices on par with that on the iPhone.

Flash 10.1 Support

Android 2.2 is supposed to have support for Flash 10.1. This will open the floodgates to all the Flash content available on the internet on your Android device.

Besides these features, Android 2.2 is also supposed to have FM Radio support and a support for a Color trackball.
